Seven ways to enjoy Xmas holidays

Holiday season is back. Winters, Xmas and New Year – what better time to have fun. So let’s not waste this time sleeping or studying the whole day. Instead, utilise these holidays in such a manner that it leaves you fresh for the year ahead. It is time to enjoy the break by doing something hatke:

1) Explore your city

It’s winter time and a great time to explore our beautiful country. This time, though, instead of travelling around the country, discover your own city. Visit the beautiful forts/historical places and get familiar with its history. If that’s not what you want, then visit a zoo or a natural park, and get closer to nature. The idea is to discover your city and do things that harsh summers of the country don’t allow. So, avoid malls, cinema halls, pubs and even indoor restaurants. Winters are meant to enjoy outdoors, so plan accordingly.

2) Go Green

Global warming is a reality. Pollution levels are too high. So, let’s do something about it. The least one can do is plant trees. The happiness that you get when you see the plant growing and developing into a tree is the most satisfying.

3) Spend time with less privileged

Festivals are an occasion of bonding, forgiving and sharing, and what better way to utilize them than by spending time with less privileged. Visit an old age home and understand their problems. Gift your old clothes or buy gifts for children living in orphanages. Or prepare a delicious food and share it with them. These activities teach us compassion, the value of sharing, and help us become better human beings.

4) Try different delicacies

Winters is said to be the best time for digestion. Hence, it is the right time to explore the delicacies of different states or countries. If you love cooking, try to prepare an authentic dish of your favourite place. Do something new this season.

5) Stay healthy and stay away from gadgets

Your gadgets too need a break! So, put them aside and instead go out and play with real people. Do exercises, get fresh air or do cycling. As per studies, fresh air and nature helps you feel more energized, relaxed and healthy. This is the best way to get refreshed before you go back to your school routine.

6) Pursue your hobby

While studies are important part of life, spending time doing things that we are passionate about helps us recharge our batteries. So, dig deeper into activities that interest you. Go out and watch movies or theatre, play guitar, study books not related to your syllabus, collect stamps – whatever your interests, find a way to delve into them further over this break.

7) Enjoy the festive season

Festivals are fun, exciting and joyous. Family gatherings, shopping and mouthwatering food add to the holiday spirit. Don’t let the stress of approaching exams or tests spoil your festivities. Develop a concrete plan for the activities you want to do this season besides dedicating a decent amount of time to studies. This way, you will make the most of your vacation without compromising on your studies or hobbies.
