Expectations from our college life – are we prepared for it?
By Aishwarya S. Shastri
Have we really even given it a serious thought?! In the chaos of boards, entrance exams and all the crazy possibilities that life’s suddenly throwing at us, we forget the real essence here is college. When I think of it, adrenaline rushes through me. No more waking up early for school! No more uniforms that we’ve all dreaded during the entire span of our high school. It’ll be a completely different environment now. Some of us were born ready but for the likes of me, we’ve planned and laid out everything and are waiting for the independence.
The next phase of life is knocking on our doorstep whether we’re embracing it or not. The hostel life for most of us is going to become a completely different universe with new people. People aspiring to be the next Bob Marley and some with ambitions as high as Forbes 30 under 30 all live under the same roof. The chances of quarrels are greater here, so guys, a fair warning: spread peace and deal with matters calmly.
The transition from a plain Jane to a college girl is going to be the beginning of a whole new journey with access to our phones with us at all times!
With YouTube and a few Hollywood movies, we have a fair idea about what’s to come. The transition from a plain Jane to a college girl is going to be the beginning of a whole new journey with access to our phones with us at all times! The curiosity about canteen food – is it really that bad? These are the usual mind-boggling thoughts nowadays. Come to think of it, even thinking about leaving town is making all of us home sick. Can’t we just smuggle our mom to hostel, or maybe, teleport back home for dinner time?
One thing is for sure – we’re all going to be getting out of our comfort zones but differentiating between the right and wrong remains solely our own decision. Yes, students who scored 90 per cent and above, ease up a little and expand your horizons in a positive manner.
