Today is International Day of the Girl Child. To commemorate this occasion, girls in every government schools in Rajasthan were given a chance to become an honorary principal for a day. The girls selected for the task were given the charge to do all the functions that a real principal does. These include conducting the morning assembly, visiting classrooms and supervising academic activities, looking after the mid-day meal preparations and so on.
Some girls were also selected to play the role of teachers who would take attendance or teach students.
This idea was conceptualised by Rajasthan Council of School Education with the objective to inspire girl students and instill confidence and sense of pride in them.
