This school is in the form of train
In this section, we bring you some interesting news pieces related to the education world from around the country. Enjoy the read…
“Chuk chuk rylu vasthondi (the train is coming).” This is how children in the government school at Veernapalli in Sircilla (Telangana), play their games. And that’s not because they are all toddlers but because this school looks like a train. To be precise, the school was remodelled to look like the Telangana Express, and its classrooms like train bogies from the outside.
This has been done to contain dropping enrollment and challenge posed by private and corporate schools. Teachers and headmasters have even spent their own money in this mission. Even some anganwadis have been refurbished with wall paintings to attract toddlers. Also, painted on the coaches-cum-classrooms are several messages like “Life is like a staircase”.
The move seems to have paid off. Attendance has improved; and students are now excited to be at school.
