AI used to discover eighth planet circling distant star

Scientists have discovered another planetary system with as many planets as our own solar system. This finding means that our solar system is not unique.

Using artificial intelligence (AI), scientists have discovered an eighth planet orbiting a distant sun like star called Kepler 90 (Kepler-90 star system is said to be a mini version of our solar system). Called Kepler-90i, the planet’s surface is 800 degrees Fahrenheit, thus ruling put any possibility of it supporting life, as we know it.

During its four year observation mission, the Kepler exoplanet-hunting telescope scanned 1,50,000 stars. Although the mission ended in 2013, the spacecraft has recorded so much data that it is impossible for scientists to examine it all manually. That’s why scientists used Google AI.
