With an aim to reach out to school students, ISRO today announced launch of ‘Young Scientist Programme.’
“ISRO will select three students from each state and union territories and will provide them access to its R&D laboratories.” This was announced by ISRO chairman Dr K Sivan. “The students, mainly from class 8, will be provided practical experience of building small satellite in this one-month programme. They will also get a chance to meet senior ISRO scientists,” he said.
ISRO has outlined five priority areas for this year:
- Gaganyaan
- Reach the students
- Outreach Programme
- Planned missions
- Vikram Sarabhai Centenary Celebration
Meanwhile, ISRO is excited about its Gaganyaan Programme. The first unmanned mission is expected to be sent by December 2020, second unmanned mission by July 2021 and the real human space flight by December 2021.
