Poem: Stay safe and stay at home

In September, we announced a Story Competition for school students, based on the theme: Lockdown Tales. One of the entries we received was a poem by Kanika Chauhan of DAV Public School, Jasola Vihar, Delhi. Although it doesn’t qualify for our competition, but we think the poem is wonderful and beautifully conveys the message of staying home in this pandemic time. We are thus publishing it below for everyone to read:

Stay safe and stay at home,
Stay home, don’t roam;
Eat healthy, home-cooked food,
Always be in positive mood.

Put smile on lots of faces,
From around the world in lots of places;
Sanitize groceries, sanitize veggies,
Sanitize fruits and sanitize munchies.

Missing my friends and playing out,
It really makes me want to shout;
It has spread across the world,
Killing children, young and adult.

Read a book and cook a recipe,
Believe me, it is a great therapy;
Do whatever you like,
But please stay inside.

As the evil corona is outside,
We are ready to fight;
Wash your hands for 20 seconds,
It will kill all the aids (bacteria).

Do some physical activity,
It is high time you built your immunity;
Spend time with your family,
But never touch anybody.

Doctors are working day and night,
Please understand, be away;
Its favourite place is your lungs,
Where it thrives and becomes strong.

Stay safe and stay at home,
Enjoy family time and don’t roam;
Only you can stop it from spreading,
Stay home, the world is begging.
