Shocking! Over 2000 schools in Odisha have just one classroom
The appalling state of education in India touches new benchmarks everyday. After Tamil Nadu, it is now Odisha. The state has a huge shortfall of classrooms at both primary and upper primary levels. So much so that 2,205 primary schools have just one classroom and 17,000 schools have only two classrooms. These shocking facts were revealed by the state’s school and mass education minister Badri Narayan Patra in the state assembly recently, as per a report in Hindustan Times.
He further informed that while 1,66,743 classes are conducted in 96,300 classrooms at the primary level, 1,22,045 classes are held in 95,986 classrooms at the upper primary level.
The only good news – government is in the process of recruiting 14,087 teachers at the primary level.
