To help students prepare for exams, KV-1 principal pens English grammar book
The book was initially written by Artatran Mishra for his wife and children ‘just to kindle their knowledge and interest in English grammar and usages.’ But the teacher in him soon thought of other children who would benefit immensely from it. And thus was born — A compendium of English grammar and usage, linguistic and literary aspects, phonetics and communication skills.
As the name signifies, the book is meant to help students learn the nitty-gritty of the language. “There have been great and almost unnecessary, exaggerated and unreasonable conflicts between the traditional treatment and modern approach to grammar, which can be easily sorted out,” explains Mishra, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, adding, “In this book, my mission and vision has been to build up a balance approach for the benefit of all.”
Mishra, who has also been teaching English for 31 years, said the book is going to be a great help for students preparing for various competitive examinations. “It has been deliberately devised with graded learning and doing materials for the benefit of students and teachers from high school to university level,” he said.
Himalaya Publishing House Pvt. Ltd. has bought the rights of the book and the new version would soon be available in the market throughout the country.
