Over 250 university shooting athletes from more than 25 countries, along with a 33-member Indian team, will compete in the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Championship Shooting Sport, set to take place in New Delhi for the first time from November 9 to 13. The championship has been allotted to the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies (MRIIRS) serving as the host university for this prestigious event. The competition will be held at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, with an opening ceremony on November 8 at the Manav Rachna campus.
Participants will compete across diverse shooting disciplines, including Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun events. Top international athletes like Paris Olympic bronze medalist Audrey Gogniat from Switzerland and German world record holder Anna Janssen will compete alongside emerging Indian Olympians such as Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sift Kaur Samra.
The event includes a wide array of categories, from precision-focused disciplines such as the 10m Air Rifle and 50m Rifle 3 Position events to dynamic contests in Trap and Skeet. Notable Olympic events are part of the lineup, including 10m Air Pistol for men and women, Mixed Team events in Trap and Skeet, and the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol.
